Skin at an all-time DRY? These wholesome formulations will turn your skin-world upside down.
It was another lazy weekend; Netflix was on TV, the bag of popcorn was slowly spinning on the microwave, the fresh smell of washed cloth wafted from the balcony.
And I, with a towel wrapped around my hair, was scrolling through the net while lying on the sofa as other average adults would do.
Till I found a quiz about skin type, it was just a bunch of questions about how you would consider your skin, and in the end, it would recommend you some remedies.
When I finished that, I saw another eye-catching quiz, and then after that, there was another one (in DJ Khalid's voice).
At 1:30 a.m., I concluded that all of these quizzes mistakenly considered that the dry and dehydrated skin are the same? Do you believe it? Yes, you do? Wait for What? Are you kidding me? Do you think that they are the same as well?
I guess I have to snatch your wig off by telling you the real tea.
Based on the article that I read on Dermalogica and a chat that I had with one of my doctor friends who is specialized in this area, I would inform you that there is a difference between them.
Dry vs dehydrated skin
I always considered my skin to be a combination. However, after one session of meeting with my skincare doctor, it turns out that my skin is not only a combination but also so severely dehydrated. Like my skin was literary lamenting, but I was unfortunately toned deaf. (Oops!)
I assume now you would guess the differences between them;
• Dry skin is a skin type
• But dehydrated skin is a skin condition
Let's dig a little further.
Dry skin
Having dry skin is no choice because you are born with it. The dryness is not limited to your face; it is all over your body, especially around the mouth, near the eyebrows, inside of the arms, and thighs. Lotion and moisturizer who? The moment you put them on your palm...poof vanish.
Normal skin will produce a good amount of sebum (oil) which helps the skin be hydrated and protected from UV radiation. But the dry skin, on the other hand, lacks this substance, so to gain back that needed oil and moisture, your skin will create a thick layer on its surface to protect the external factors.
Other signs and symptoms of dry skin
• Flacks and rough texture
• Itch
• Cracks in the skin
• Peeling skin
